Today’s Healthy Monday Tip: Get inspired for spring cooking!
The April rains and warmer weather are a sure sign that new and exciting produce is on its way. After months of mostly apples, onions, and potatoes, the farmers’ markets will soon be filled with asparagus, lettuce, radishes and strawberries! After cooking for the winter months, it’s time to think about spring eating.
If you are bored with your cookbooks, check out recipes online. Vital Juice Daily compiled the “10 Best Recipe Sites,” including videos, seasonal eating and even a site that will match your cravings with a recipe. We also have recipes in Sustainable Table’s kitchen section.
Shop for seasonal ingredients at your local farmers’ market or join a CSA. You can find them listed on Eat Well Guide. Not the cooking type? The Guide lists restaurants that source local and seasonal ingredients, as well.
To find out what is coming into season near you, go to NRDC’s Eat Local page.
