This Just In: Groundbreaking Victory — a White House Garden

March 18th, 2009 by leslie · 3 Comments

Eddie at Obama Foodorama broke the story and ABC News has confirmed that the Obamas will install a vegetable garden on the White House lawn as suggested by Roger Doiron of Kitchen Gardeners International’s Eat the View campaign, Daniel Bowman Simon and Casey Gustowarow from the WHO Farm initiative (both of which we covered in our book, Cultivating the Web), and the thousands who signed their petitions. Congratulations to the first family and to foodies around the country — the belief in fresh, healthful, local food that this project symbolizes is a big win for us all, one that will hopefully inspire more people to participate in “shovel-ready” projects around the country.
