The market value of food safety The party is over for Vilsack at Obama Foodorama, where Eddie takes the Sec of Ag to task for this quote on the peanut butter scandal: “At the end of the day, (food safety) is about preserving the income opportunities for farmers and ranchers…We’ve got to make sure the food supply is safe. That’s how you preserve markets.” Right, by not killing them.
Scratching corn syrup A Mighty Apetite Kim O’Donnel is on a quest to make DIY sweets that are free from high fructose corn syrup, and this week it was from-scratch chocolate syrup that looks amazing (and easy)! Anytime, Megan.
Isn’t that video the cutest thing ever? I love how comprehensive it is, covering all the workers who get food to our plates — I almost got a little teary thinking about all the hours that went into teaching those kids about food and helping them to brainstorm and produce that video. Yay!
