Today’s Tip from our friends at Healthy Monday: Distance helps the heart grow stronger. Don’t sit or stand next to the food table at holiday gatherings. Keep your distance from holiday tables laden with artery-clogging treats – or you may find yourself munching mindlessly as you talk with friends and family.
This was very true for me this weekend at three holiday parties! Everything looked so good, and at all of them, I had shown up without eating dinner first. Holidays are rushed and often we don’t take good care of ourselves. Sunday I remedied the problem by going to my favorite grocery store and stocking up on healthy food, and healthy snacks that I can bring with me. I cooked a big meal on Sunday night, with wonderful local sustainable veggies, and today I was able to bring extras with me to work.
Planning ahead and staying far from the holiday food table are key to keeping healthy this season!

This is my first visit to your site and I found it very informative. This post on holiday eating is most appropriate, but often hard to follow through and resist the temptation to sample all the good-tasting goodies.
