A cleaner, greener filter I forgot to include this in last week’s feed — Brita has agreed to take back and recycle water filters. A new partnership between Clorox (Brita’s parent company) and Preserve will make it possible for people to mail in old filters or drop them off at Whole Foods stores. That filter you’re using now could be a toothbrush next year.
The rush to glean Joe and Chris Miller of Miller Farm, just north of Denver, Colorado opened their farm to gleaners last weekend and found that in the wake of the recent economic downturn, there are a lot of hungry people in Colorado. In fact, around 40,000 people showed up, causing severe backups on the backroad behind the farm.
“Call me Barack” The future first family spent Wednesday at a South Side Chicago church, handing out chickens, making an impromtu visit to a nearby school and joking around with the Secret Service.
