Today’s Tip: Stay Healthy!

All I can think about today for the “Eat Healthy Monday” tip is that everyone is sick! Let’s focus on prevention.

Here are a few helpful ideas to prevent colds and flu and stay healthy:

1. Eat healthy. For this to happen sustainably, planning is my first thought. Pick a day (Monday?) to go grocery shopping at a farmers market or coop. Plan out meals in advance and make extras to take with you for lunch at work. Stick to fresh vegetables and fruit, smaller quantities of meat – and stay away from processed foods!

2. Eat immune boosting foods. Garlic is antibacterial and antiviral. Tumeric has curcumin, a polyphenol with strong cold and flu-fighting properties. Oregano’s antioxidant activity is due to its high content of phenolic acids and flavonoids. Ginger is spicy and sweats out colds and flu, among many other healing properties.

3. Sleep, exercise, drink tea, and take good care of yourself in general.

Good luck everyone!

I feel like sometimes we spend so much time treating our illnesses, we forget that we can prevent most of them by how we eat, sleep and exercise!

    Thanks for the reminder!
