Never mind a little melamine Never mind that the practice of adding melamine to food to create a false impression of high protein content is a gross breech of public trust. The FDA announced today that small levels of melamine are “not harmful,” unless you are a baby (Reuters). Well, tell your baby to steer clear of Blue Cat Flavor Drink and  White Rabbit Creamy Candy, then.

Vetted Farmers The Ethicurean reports on the Farmer-Veteran Coalition, a new San Francisco-based organization that helps rural veterans become stewards of the land.  Sounds like a winner.

Finally, some food facts This year’s presidential campaigns, as usual, have been long on generalities and short on facts, especially in the food arena, which is no big surprise.  Tom Philpott did some digging, though, and outlines McCain and Obama’s food and ag policies for us.
