Phew! The Ethicurean had some choice words in response to a snarky response to the rumor that Obama had tapped Bush’s former Secretary of Agriculture Ann Venemen, a woman Bonnie P. describes as “like Round-Up for small, sustainable farmers,” to run as his vice president. Turned out it was just a rumor.
It’s in the water. Maybe. They FDA has pinpointed a couple of peppers — of both the jalapeno and serrano varieties — that have tested positive for salmonella saintpaul. But as this Reuters piece points out, the Mexican government takes issue with the so-called “smoking gun,” a water sample taken from a Mexican farm.
It’s Catfish Month! Sadly, the last I reported on this delicious fish, catfish farmers in Mississippi were going out of business due to the rising cost of grain. Help those who are hanging on and celebrate Catfish Month by eating some farm-raised, US catfish.
