Environmental Cost of Shipping Groceries Around the World
(New York Times)- The year round sale of exotic fruits and vegetables at grocery stores has become commonplace. However, the true environmental cost of shipping food around the world is staggering, not only because of the carbon emissions, but also because of excess packaging. Tesco, a British supermarket chain, has proposed to places labels on food that reveal their carbon footprint.
Report Targets Cost of Factory Farming
(Washington Post) – The Pew Charitable Trusts and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health have released a report after a two and a half year study on factory farms.
